Today, you now take the Platform App Builder certification after becoming an admin. This is the most similar certificate to the old developer one and does not require writing code. Changes were made to this path at the end of 2015 so that the the “developer” title is not attainable with basic click to code knowledge. With this setup you could be a “certified developer” and not know a single line of APEX.Īfter this certification you then could take the Advanced Developer test which included the standard multiple choice questions as well as programming problems. However, this certification was deceiving by name as there was no coding involved. Previous to 2016, your next certificate was an easy choice as the next test offered was Developer and contained many of the same topics that are covered in the certified admin course.
